I am a licensed Electrical Journeyman that has been in the Oil & Gas industry for over 15 years. I started my Electrical apprenticeship in Kindersley Saskatchewan with Syntech Enerflex (now PTW) in 2005. I continued my apprenticeship there eventually becoming a Journeyman Electrician in 2008. As an apprentice you learn the value of listening, learning and hard work, but most of all teamwork. It can really all be brought back to there, without learning the value of both hard work and teamwork, I would not have had the opportunities I've earned throughout my career.It was through this hard work and dedication that I received my next career opportunity with Inter Pipeline (IPL). While acting as site Foreman for a construction project with IPL, I was encouraged to apply for a local Position.In 2012 I began my career with IPL in Kindersley Saskatchewan as Electrical Operations. While here a major expansion project for IPL had kicked off at one of the stations under my responsibility. This major expansion took over 3 years of construction to complete. During this time I was asked to help the various Project Managers, Engineering firms, Construction Teams and Commissioning teams that were responsible for completing this, then, major milestone for IPL. It was during this time that I was once again asked to apply for a permanent position within the Project Development group.In 2018 I started a position as Project Integration Specialist. This new role brought the responsibilities of becoming Start-up and Commissioning Manager, where I would be responsible for bringing any new project, to a safely functioning asset. Through the lifespan of a project I would be responsible for attending HAZOPS, design reviews, model reviews, 3rd party module reviews, building commissioning budgets & schedules, organizing & hosting commissioning meetings, contacting internal and external support services, commissioning execution, drain down & re-flood plans, energy isolation plans and QAQC as a part of the final turnover for the various Project Managers and Operations groups.Becoming a part of the Project Development group has been the most fulfilling position I have held to date. The network of people and attention to detail required to make any project not just a functioning asset, but a successful project by meeting in service date(s) both on time and on budget is something I strive for with every new project.
