My role as a Community Adviser consists of overseeing the residents and their safety on my floor by making sure they are following university policy. I also am in charge of planning programs or events for my residents to participate in to create floor and hall community and enrich the minds of my residents both academically and socially by the programs I offer to them. Another task I am in charge of is making a bulletin board every month based on a theme set by the university or by my hall director. The board is meant to be educational to some degree and is a passive way of interacting with the residents and giving them information on a variety of topics. I also am responsible for going on duty rounds twice a month or more. The purpose of duty rounds is to make sure residents are safe and secure and that residents are following university policy when it comes to alcohol and other issues. In addition I am required to be part of a hall leadership team in which the team discusses ways for the residence hall to be a better place to live. I also am responsible for sitting at the front desk for fours a week to greet residents while doing organizational tasks and sorting mail.
