Continuing to serve utility industry clients in process improvement, performance measurement and management, strategy implementation, project management, and plain old problem solving.Interesting and varied projects continue. Examples include:Strategic projects, such as conducting competitive assessments of utility generating assets and assessing alternative strategies in response to new federal and state legislation and other initiatives.Financial analyses, such as assessing cost allocation methodologies and determining the economic value of certain investment programs.Operational process improvement, including support of the merger of two very diverse organizations, conducting a high level meter to cash process assessment, and leading a project to implement a “lite” version of Maximo to an organization that needed greater discipline in work and asset management.Risk Management, including an assessment of enterprise risk management practices as well as assisting the organization in embedding risk management thinking in “every day” decisions.ESG, Integrated Reporting, and Internal Business Controls -- working with a client on identification of appropriate metrics to be responsive to sustainability standards, and development of proper business controls around data collection and reporting to support ultimate assurance audits.Capital program management remains a hot issue. Several clients have been interested in improving their processes for determining the right amount of spend and the right programs/projects for their mix. Using leading practices assembled over the years we have helped one client by identifying process improvement opportunities across the whole life cycle of capital program planning and management from budget through execution and close -- to be in a better position to defend its programs before regulators.

Bass & Company was acquired by CSC on August 28, 2010, creating a new utilities industry consulting practice. As a Director in the Utility Industry group, I've been involved in projects spanning Meter to Cash, Energy Efficiency and Work and Asset Management. As a part of CSC, we have been able to provide to our clients a combination of technology expertise along with the deep business-side knowledge of utility industry operations.
