Morris L. Reeves, Ed.D.Vision/LeadershipServed as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance for USD 443, participated in two successful bond elections and supervised construction of five (5) schools, Linn, Beeson, Soule, Comanche and Dodge City High School.Drafted and submitted successful grant application for Recovery Act funds to support geothermal HVAC systems for Northwest and Central Schools in the amount of $412,500.Based upon experiences from California; planned, organized, called and chaired the initial organizational meeting of the Kansas Joint Energy Management Program (KJUMP) to transport natural gas at a reduced rate. With assistance from KASB the KJUMP Program currently serves 175 school districts in KansasDrafted and submitted successful grant application for Recovery Act funds to form a joint energy manager program to serve USD 443, City of Dodge City and Ford County in the amount of $200,000. During the Joint Energy Manager Program, secured two engineering studies of the Dodge City South waste water treatment facility (at no cost to the City). The first study was for energy conservation, the second was for alternative fuel use for the biogas which is a valuable asset produced by the facility. The continued working with City staff has led to the current biogas project which will generate substantial revenue to the City. Planned and introduced the use of a capital outlay mill levy to the College after the municipal lease for the construction of the science building was voted down. The capital outlay levy allowed for capital outlay bonds to finance the construction of the science building.Made presentations to the Kansas Energy Conference in 2012 and 2013 on geothermal/variable refrigerant flow HVAC systems installed in our schools.
