The first movie I remember watching in a theatre was “Purple Rain” when I was 5 years old and since then movies have been a big part of my life. But not just movies, the entire experience of watching them on the big screen. For me, nothing beats watching a movie in a crowded theatre with others that are just as excited as you are. I’ve waited in the long lines to get a good seat before there was reserved seating. I went to midnight shows when they were still midnight shows, even when it was a 3 hour plus movie and I had to work the next day (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”).Prior to joining NATO of CA/NV, I worked for Landmark Theatres and Krikorian Premiere Theatres in their corporate offices. Before I moved into exhibition, I worked for Theatrical Entertainment Services (now VeriTES) sending checkers to the theatres and running theatrical and open checks. It’s safe to say, I am all in when it comes to movie theatres.Now, more than ever, it’s important for all of us that have a vested interest in the success of movie theatres, to work hard to promote and preserve the theatrical experience; and as COVID continues to linger, to ensure a safe moviegoing experience for our patrons.
