  The Maxars team is applying its extensive experience from designing and developing industrial technology to the challenge of robotic weld profiling and weld geometry improvement of butt welds in tubular steel structures for offshore wind power projects.The company's laser guided milling robot is designed to deliver a uniformly smooth and superior finish in a single run and at a profiling speed of 1,200 mm circumferential and longitudinal butt weld per minute.The robot replaces current manual and skill-dependent profiling practices associated with varying quality, high levels of noise and dust exposure. The technology delivers consistently high-quality weld geometry improvement 20 times faster than current practice. Operation noise is only approx. 75 decibel and operation is dust-free with automatic vacuum evacuation of shavings.The Maxars mission is for its robotic weld profiling technology to designated Best Available Technique (BAT) and ultimately to enable designers to apply SN 160 as fatigue strength reference when calculating steel structures and constructing monopiles, transition pieces and tower elements for offshore wind power projects.Upon achieving that mission Maxars robot technology will play its part in reducing Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) and Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCoH) by enabling an increase in productivity and an estimated 5-10 % reduction in steel thickness in offshore structures.
