I have been in the Healthcare industry as an LPN and as a Basic EMT for the past 32 or more years. I started out as a nurses aid, and worked up to LPN. Then when I joined a small volunteer fire department in 1999, I also started my career as an EMT Basic. I have loved this work, and now am looking for work in a less physically demanding setting. Jumping in and out of Ambulances has taken it's toll on my knees. I also have a love for cooking, and did some studies for this. I have plans to start my own small catering business soon. Financially now isn't the right time. But it will make a nice retirement job. Update, since writing this, I now have thyroid cancer, the "easy cancer" sure, it's easy if you are a 20 year old and no other risks or issues as in diabetic, edema or CTS to name a few. So, at 61 years old I'm looking into SSD/SSI till next year when I age in for early retirement. I can return to work, but only in a stress free environment, no shift work, especially night or evening shifts. No more than 8 hr day, and every couple hours need to be able to sit down with feet up and rest for ten minutes. Is there a job out there that fits these restrictions and will pay my household budget? When I go on SSD/SSI or early retirement, I'm told I can work up to a certain amount each month. Learning all that is on my "todo" list.
