When I was 3 years old, I got electrocuted in the tongue, because I was doing what I do best. Taking things apart and seeing how they work. At age 5 I got really injured with a screwdriver and realized that I should probably stay away from electronics and try something safer. Everything changed for me at age 7, when we moved to United States, and together with my dad, refurbished a computer we had rescued from the dumpster. Upon repairing the system, we discovered that it was running Windows 95. This started a lifelong journey into growing my skillset in technology. The stories go on… in middle school I helped setup the DMX lighting system in the auditorium and was able to teach fellow students how to do lighting. In high school my talents were recognized early, and I helped the school to build infrastructure for internal systems. Upon graduation, I was offered the Administrator position for my own school. I continued my journey of running towards trouble and developing solutions that made life easier for a lot of people. This field excited me. I love seeing systems functioning efficiently. Large networks, complex software, challenging issues; the harder the challenge and more complex the system, the more energized I am. I like to see big projects come to life and succeed. I am my best self professionally when I am brainstorming with my team, collaborating on processes and strategies to move the needle forward. An entrepreneur at heart, I am a firm believer that success lies in this synergistic work. When I was in high school, I dreamed of building a datacenter. While other children were playing video games and playing ball with friends, I was creating cost analyses and researching power, cooling, and hardware costs, daydreaming about rows of computers all blinking simultaneously, full functionality! Now, as a Senior DevOps / SRE, I get to experience this everyday…. It never gets old.
