An inclusive health systems expert, I have over 12 years of experience in health systems research, building systems that are responsive to the needs of vulnerable populations across rural and urban settings, and in situations of social injustice. I strive to include considerations of gender, racial, and wealth equality in my research work and use inclusive and participatory research methods. As such my methodological expertise is in qualitative methods and Participatory Action Research approaches, run independently or in conjunction with quantitative approaches. I teach and advise on health systems research, healthcare management, qualitative research methods, and stakeholder engagement at the undergraduate and graduate academic levels, and on a consulting basis. I have designed, managed, and coordinated projects on maternal and neonatal health, reproductive health, knowledge management and translation, health systems research and management capacity building. I worked extensively in Uganda and in close collaboration with partners in other parts of Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, DRC Congo, South Africa, Zambia, Rwanda) Europe (Sweden, UK, the Netherlands) Asia (Bangladesh), United States of America, Canada, Guatemala etc. Prior and current partners include Region of Waterloo Public Health and emergency services, Johns Hopkins University, Makerere University, Population Sciences International (PSI), Save the Children, Uganda, University Research Council (URC), Umea University, Liverpool School Tropical Medicine, Muhimbili University, School of Public Health, University of Western Cape, University of Zambia, School of Public Health,Nairobi University and Moi University, ICDDR,B Dhaka, Radbound University etc. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Pharmacy of Waterloo University in Canada, evaluating the ongoing delivery of Covid-19 vaccines in the region of Waterloo, an exciting opportunity to contribute towards the ending of the pandemic. I also have a part time appointment as an associate professor of health systems at Umea University in Sweden.
