GEOG 102 - Earth System Science (Lecture and Lab)Scientific study of the connection between working systems of the Earth, their characteristics, patterns and shaping processes. Topics include rocks and minerals, theory of plate tectonics, and landform created by rivers, glacier, wind and ocean processes. Tools used include topographic maps, aerial photographs, and spatial analysis software. Course includes a brief analysis of landform regions of the United States in regional approach.

GEOG 256: Maps & Mapping Lab (SP16)Introduction to maps as models of our earth, tools of visualization, and forms of graphic communication. Use of satellite and aerial imagery, land surveying, and geographic information systems in map production. Thematic maps and how they are used. Map design for informational and persuasive purposes.GEOG 360: Introduction to Remote Sensing Lab (FA15)The overall goal of this course is to introduce students to the basic theories and principles behind contemporary remote sensing and how remote sensing can be applied to solve environmental/geoscience problems, focusing primarily on the use of aerial photography and satellite imagery. GEOG 359: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems Lab (FA15)This course offers an introduction to the concepts, principles, and theories behind Geographic Information Systems and Science (GIS), with emphasis on the nature of geographic information, data models and structures for storing geographic information, geographic data capture, data manipulation, and simple spatial analysis and modeling techniques.GEOG 458: Geovisualization Recorded Lectures (SP15 – 100% online)Recorded lecture slides, edited slides, and managed the uploading of the slides into blackboard.GEOG 361: Geographic Measurement & Quantitative Lab (SP14)The three objectives set forth in the syllabus are 1. A basic understanding of statistical principles related to the collection, analysis and graphical presentation of geographic data. 2. Successfully learn the application of basic descriptive and inferential statistical techniques; 3. Each student will learn how to use basic statistical software packages.
