I've been involved in science fiction and fantasy professionally since I was in college in the early 70s as an editor and book reviewer. Later, I had eleven years of experience in direct marketing at the Science Fiction and Military book clubs. Two interesting detours from that have been a stint as a middle manager for the US Census and a couple of years working for a private investigator specializing in intellectual property cases. Since joining Tor in 2000, first on staff and later as a consulting editor, I've returned to focusing on my permanent goals of acquiring and editing great SF and fantasy, working with both established authors and the best new talent I can find.Specialties: SF, fantasy, and popular science
