My name is Mosi McKie, i’m from St.Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I don't set out to produce art about one subject or another, I take inspiration from everything in my life and sometimes nothing at all. My aesthetic to me is a pagan morbid punk goth minimalistic chic. Growing up I was always interested in anything to do with the occult, this in turn has reflected itself in my work. Looking 18th century silhouettes as well as, the gothic architecture of that time are all things that I gravitate towards when approaching new projects. Not to mention my love for the color black. If anything, the most common theme in my work is the color black. I like things very minimal when it comes to color palettes. Coupled with my love of black is that, for earth/jewel tones, metallics, iridescent, and heavily patterned or embellished fabrics. It’s very seldom that my work may have a meaning or message, even further so my work is sometimes inspired by itself and nothing in particular, whereas sometimes it’s a combination of a plethora of things synthesized down to what ever it is I create. Upon my graduation from scad I see myself working for a company focused in evening wear and couture.
