Birmingham, Alabama Area

Work on study to identify major pedestrian crash causes and patterns and propose potential countermeasures to reduce the frequency of occurrence and severity of increasing crashes rates in the future. Traffic records from national databases and the Alabama crash data base (CARE) have been reviewed to investigate the crash trends and contributing factors. Provided sustainable solutions to increase pedestrian safety in general and reducing car users in particular by providing neighborhood develop plan that includes but not limited to walkable streets, transit facilities, green buildings infrastructure, and teaching children pedestrian safety in virtual reality.• Participated as a committee member in the decade urban forecasting plan of Birmingham city, Alabama. This plan is created every 10 years in order to enhance the road services and maintain an appropriate traffic at the peak times all over the year based on the trip distribution studies across the city zones • Identified Alabama crash database to analyze pedestrian crash trends using ArcGIS software program in presenting the results and isolated the contributing factors per each common zone• Investigated countermeasures related to the contributing factors of pedestrian crashes in order to reduce frequency and severity of such incidents during the rehabilitation design phase• Provided sustainable countermeasures to improve pedestrian safety
