Investor / Business Leader & Business Builder / Entrepreneur # Private Markets & Infrastructure Investing I am an experienced CEO, business leader / builder & entrepreneur, who is Soweto born & raised. Being a globally multi - awarded financial services executive, with a passion for building ‘stuff’ and developing people & enabling economic participation of previously marginalized people confirms my Sowetan-ness, a place where many game changers were raised under a challenging yet 'rich' context. I am a values-driven leader who looks for opportunities that translate into large scale impact. My experience (over 30 years) is broad and includes investment analysis, investment management & marketing, economic research, retirement funding, trustee training, post graduate economics lecturing and building two significant businesses. My trustee training experience was gained over 3.5 years within my own firm, which represented my first foray into the world of entrepreneurship. It was during this period that I also acquired experience as an independent retirement fund trustee by also serving on numerous retirement fund boards as a trustee. Since co-founding (in April 2005) and leading an asset management business from a zero AUM to a medium sized AUM (and building a stockbroking business from scratch), my experience is deeper and richer across most elements of running a business of scale in a regulated space as a steward of “other people’s money”. My well developed interpersonal and business development skills stood me in good stead then and continue to do so today. I have participated & presented at various international and domestic conferences including presenting in Kigali, Rwanda on the invitation of UNCTAD to speak on African entrepreneurship. My areas of interest are broad and include investment / infrastructure investing / asset management industry (both public & private) / BEE / pension funds, entrepreneurship / global business / Africa & Emerging Markets My two wholly owned investment holdings businesses represent my personal and professional growth over time, with Kings’ Lane Holdings (Pty) & Jarrard, Strauss & Cole (Pty) Ltd. It is my hope that these two entities will in time represent a part of my legacy, and something my children will look at, reflect on and give them a context of my life, my history and the choices that I made. It is also my wish that they, my broader family and my community can take something out of my having been on earth and are encouraged, inspired and challenged to do more and better.
