Mothupi Modiba is the CEO of Kaborona Investments, a private equity company with interests in the mining, property and IT industries. He is also the Managing Director of Bokamoso Barona Trust, whose beneficiary student organisations are SASCO and COSAS.He is a member of the Council of the University of South Africa, and previously served as a board member of Eyesizwe Mining, the then single largest shareholder of the JSE listed Exxaro. He also served as the Chairman of Eyesizwe Mining Development Trust, and was earlier appointed by the then president of the republic, Thabo Mbeki, to serve as a Commissioner of the National Youth Commission (NYC), the predecessor of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). He was later appointed to serve on the board of the National Youth Development Agency for a period of three years which ended in March, 2016. He holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Inclusive Innovation from the UCT Graduate School of Business, an MBA from Henley Business School, a Professional Certificate in Public Management (PCPM) from the Wits School of Governance, an International Directors Programme as well as a Certificate in Corporate Governance from Insead, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of South Africa (Unisa).
