In 2010 Kestrel Modular Tube Systems merged with Coastal Specialist Ironmongery, and I soon took the position of the Research and Development manager for the entire group.Following the restructuring of Coastal Group, the Kestrel part was sold. And Coastal Group specialised in their core market being Hardware for Timber doors and Windows.I was involved in the creation of the ‘blu’ range of 316 Stainless Steel hardware and pioneered the ‘Duratique’ range of antique hardware made of stainless steel.

Anticipating the sale of Port & Quarry Supplies and following our relocation to Cornwall, I set up a new company Kestrel Engineering Supplies. Initially, we specialised in 'Engineering Supplies' however soon found a niche market in supplying handrail components and changed the name to Kestrel Modular Tube Systems.I designed and developed several handrail galvanized systems such as KESCLAMP, SYSTEMRAIL, ROOFRAIL and the Stainless Steel balustrade system DELUXRAIL which soon became very popular all over the UK.

I set up Port & Quarry Supplies along with my father, Roger Davies. Build on our family knowledge, we identified the opportunity. We specialised in the used equipment for the port and quarry industry which involved materials handling and stone processing industries.As the business grew, I set up a workshop to enable the reconditioning of the plant and then later to build used equipment into complete plants.I supplied and managed plant supply and installations in the UK and overseas.

Being a family business, I spent many hours in the factory before completing my education at Filton High School.Worked in old farm buildings and built trailer chassis and fitted tanks, which involved welding, assembling, paint spraying, and delivery to the client.I worked with the management to develop and build new products, demonstrate to potential clients, and use feedback to modify and perfect the products in development.
