My role within Click Innovation expanded to product training, help with on-boarding, product development and customer support.Using my extensive product knowledge - not only of how ClickHQ can help businesses achieve their goals but of how the system works and is built - I could successfully implement ClickHQ into businesses, dealing with opposition from users (who didn't want to change), quickly offering solutions to individual problems and adapting to ever-changing customer expectations.I managed a small but skilled operations team, focusing on how to deliver the best product support and service found in the CRM industry.

From developer to development manager, I was in charge of a team of 5. It was here that I began to interact direct with customers and translate their requirements back to the team and build the software in ways I felt would be beneficial to our growing customer base.I would work with the management team to define the product roadmap, report on the development progress and manage customer support.

Working with a skilled group of developers, I helped develop our customer relationship management (CRM) software - ClickHQ.The software was built using PHP and MySQL along with JavaScript libraries such as JQuery. As well as writing code for ClickHQ we also wrote bespoke apps which could be integrated with the CRM, tailored for individual customer requirements.I learnt modern software development practices and how to work with a highly skilled team of individuals.

Electricflare was a web development company I setup to offer cost effective web design to small businesses.I started the company with two goals in mind; help small companies achieve visibility on the internet at an affordable cost and help me gain the necessary experience in building web applications, dealing with businesses and managing a company.I developed the websites with a custom content management system (CMS) so the customer could continue to update and edit the website quickly and easily. I gained a lot of knowledge from good and bad experiences within the software development industry and over this time built a comprehensive portfolio of websites and web apps.

I travelled the world for 4 years, working as I went. I visited 6 continents, over 50 countries and experienced a diverse range of people and cultures. From watching whales in Antarctica, having a beer in the Falklands, trekking through a spice plantation in Chennai and hang-gliding off the Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro.During these years I built on my passion for programming. With my laptop coming everywhere with me, I taught myself the fundamentals behind website design and development. In my free time I starting building websites for friends and family which helped me learn everything from creating intuitive user interfaces, using best of breed tools, coding practices and recognising the important difference between thinking as a programmer and thinking as a user (which is very difficult to do). It was from here that I decided to start a career in software.

Apex Computers were IBM and Cisco premier partners. I sold server and communication systems, working with an external client manager to visit businesses, understand their current problems and offer solutions. My day-to-day job involved working in a team of internal client managers, calling potential customers and gathering information.This is where I started to learn the true benefit of mapping out business processes, identifying weaknesses and building systems to address customer problems.
