Nick runs the technology team and product management team. LockerDome has over 100 million monthly unique visitors. While at LockerDome, Nick took a company with a few daily users to one with millions daily managing the architecture. Nick worked closely with the CEO to develop company strategy, develop talent and ensure that LockerDome was successful, picking up tasks outside the typical scope of a CTO.On a technical level, Nick personally created two databases, writing over 95% of the code for both: one that created distributed transactions with triggers, types, PITR, change subscriptions, durability, constraints, indexes on top of Redis; and, another built in C++ that directly mounted block devices and was written directly against Linux system calls. Nick also oversaw the development, architecture, and product management of the largest releases in LockerDome's history. Nick also built a single server image that would boot and auto-configure networking, running the filesystem completely in memory in order to allow rapid recovery in the case of corruption and reduce the probability of a server failure by avoiding the need for persistent disks. Nick demonstrated elite-level expertise in software architecture, business and technical strategy, product management, employee development and technical knowledge, personally recruiting multiple developers that wanted to work with Nick in order to learn.

Nick has worked with the organization along with a very talented team of teachers, volunteers and staff from pre-incorporation to the present. In 4 years, we've built an organization that has approximately $200k in annual non-grant revenue, 5-6 hours of lessons per week, live music twice per month, a weekly swing dance, and several large events that draw hundreds from out of town. We are a 501c3, but have been profitable from the beginning and are continuing to expand aggressively.

I was hired to do data entry, but once I got there, they realized that I could write code and put me to work writing code. I built a poll widget and quiz widget for their website. It was really interesting working at a tech startup during the first .COM boom.
