Designing and building systems to fight cancer.Our first product is a radiation therapy device with integrated PET/kVCT and software platform with integrated treatment planning and delivery known as the RefleXion X1. The RefleXion X1 is the first radiotherapy machine designed to deliver Biology-guided Radiation Therapy (BgRT). With BgRT, we are able to detect and respond to signals emitted from the cancer itself to guide treatment in real-time.

A user-friendly experience and actionable energy intelligence help customers make smart, personalized energy decisions.During my time as Head of User Experience, I worked with the rest of the Executive Team on the vision for the next iteration of ChooseEnergy.com and its related properties. Notion is a platform to enable longitudinal hypothesis testing through quantified self and personal data analysis using the core metrics of happiness, relaxation, and energy level to optimize for a better life. Over the course of several months in 2012, a research alpha was performed to gauge the viability of longitudinal testing as a platform. The results were not positive enough to continue pursuing at that point, so the company has been put in stasis.- Designed a feedback loop for gathering emotional wellness data via mobile devices.- Developed and continues to maintain several open-source Node.js Packages for use with the Passport.js authentication middleware.- Developed a collection of natural-language processing scripts in Python and Node.js to perform sentiment and emotional content analysis on short-form text content.- Designed and implemented algorithms for identifying potential correlations between disparate datasets indicative of behavioral changes.- Implemented data visualizations using D3.js, Raphael.js, and Leaflet.js/Cloudmade.- Developed a custom library for network graph visualization in JavaScript.- Designed a touch interface for browsing large datasets on mobile phones and tablet devices.- Performed user research studies on personal data, quantified self, mobile app usage, and habit tracking formation.

Magi.com was a next-generation social gaming and virtual goods platform that enabled free-to-play social gaming for aspirational and virtual identities, allowing users to focus less on their real world selves and more on playing the games they enjoy for free. As the Design Lead, I was responsible for converting high-level product requirements into a cohesive experience upon which the engineering teams could execute. To do this, I produced user flows, interaction models, wireframes, and production-quality HTML/CSS/JS prototypes. hi5.com was, at the time of my joining in 2010, one of the top 3 general purpose social networks online behind only Facebook and MySpace in monthly active users. Our audience consisted of primarily international users (especially Thai, Eastern European, and Latin American countries). I joined as a UI Designer/Engineer to bring my experience in e-commerce to their virtual goods economy. I quickly advanced in the organization, replacing the existing Design Lead at the company in role less than six months after joining. Over the course of my time at hi5, I managed anywhere from 3 to 5 designers, artists, and front-end engineers and acted as hiring manager for both the design and front-end engineering departments. Red Square Agency is an award-winning regional advertising agency located in my hometown, Mobile, Alabama. They were in need of someone who could provide a full-stack solution to one of their client's needs while being able to assist them from time to time with design and engineering solutions on other projects. While at RSA, I provided a range of services from technology advising, interaction and UX design, visual design, front-end engineering (HTML/CSS/JS), and infrastructure/app-level engineering (PHP/MySQL and SOAP/XML/XSLT). NETTUTS+ is a tutorial site dedicated to providing web designers/developers tutorials and articles on how to improve their abilities designing and building websites. I joined the NETTUTS+ team as a regular writer for just over two months before my father passed away, and I went on hiatus. By the time I was ready to get back to tutorial writing, I no longer had the time to dedicate to weekly/bi-weekly tutorials and decided to make the hiatus permanent.- Wrote articles on typography, CSS, and PHP

Compass Marketing, Inc., as the company was known when I joined, is a regional marketing and advertising agency focused on the recreational travel industry of the Southeast United States. The company published its own lifestyle magazine, Southern Breeze, as well as began its own television station, Coast 360, while I was there. Quicksave Junkie was the short-lived video game industry blog that I helped develop. I acted as the U.S. Editor, writing and editing articles for release during peak U.S. readership times. Epiphany Development was a full-service small business technology consulting firm located in my hometown where I was attending college at the University of South Alabama. They provided software consulting, web design and development, and branding/identity design. Epiphany Computer Services was the sister company to Epiphany Development. ECS provided hardware and software IT support to both end consumers and small businesses. I primarily built custom computers, did hardware repairs, software troubleshooting, and did UNIX server management. Fun Fact: as of August 2014, I am still listed on the website as a computer technician.

Sharply Blurred Reality Designs was the hobby business that I ran while in middle/high school and occasionally during college. I provided graphic design services and created static HTML and image-based websites for a handful of small businesses in my hometown. I had little to no idea what I was doing, but I first got paid to make someone's website shortly after I turned 12. I didn't even know HTML yet. I used Notepad. It was amazing.
