Access To Information Analyst
CurrentAs part of the Access to Information Office, I review, analyze and respond to requests for information in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). I also provide advice to members of the Service on access and privacy issues.Responsibilities include:• Receive and analyze documentation requested and respond to formal requests within the legislated timeline. Make informed decisions regarding the release of information. Determine applicable legislation and necessary redactions, often without review by a supervisor.• Redact, review, and/ or correct information to ensure that the material that is being released is accurate or complete by applying the appropriate exemptions pursuant to MFIPPA or determine applicable legislation that may supersede this Act.• Prepare and forward appeal packages to the Information & Privacy Commissioner’s (IPC) Office; provide information to the Mediator from the IPC office to resolve appeals and write representation on appeals. • Track all information requests in a computerized internal database. Maintain mandatory statistical information required by the Information & Privacy Commission (IPC) as well as upper management. • Provide input and recommendations to Senior Leaders on internal policy development and research projects impacted by MFIPPA; provide assistance to members on the application of procedures relating to the release of information and on privacy best practices. • Process correction applications by attaching letters of disagreement to the related occurrence or by correcting information on file, where appropriate. • Perform Privacy Impact Assessments on any Service-wide additions or changes to new or existing technology, procedures, or processes involving personal information; consult, research, and evaluate material to put forward recommendations for risk mitigation.
