Library Director
CurrentThe Library Director’s primary assignment is to administer an effective program of library service supporting the mission, goals, and objectives of the Penn State Behrend campus and the Penn State University Libraries. Providing and administering appropriate reference, bibliographic, instructional, and academic support services and developing the John M. Lilley Library’s collections to assure that it is responsive to campus programs are the paramount responsibilities of the Director in carrying out this assignment. The Director is specifically responsible for the use and expenditure of the Library budgets in conformity with University policies; recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of library staff; and the planning, procurement, and evaluation of the Library’s facilities and equipment. Effective communication with students, faculty, and appropriate campus and Libraries’ administrators regarding library practices and policies is a chief role of the Director. In addition, the Director is expected to participate in activities related to library and campus governance, library-wide efforts to develop systems and services, and devote time to research, scholarly activity, and service to the University, the society, and the profession.
Head Librarian

Access Services Librarian
Manage all aspects of the Access Services department. The Access Services department comprises several important public service areas in the library, including Circulation, Course Reserves, Interlibrary Lending, Media Services, the Public Patron Program, and Stacks Maintenance. Under the supervision of the Associate Law Librarian for Patron Services, the Access Services Librarian develops policies and procedures to promote quality services to the Georgetown Law Center community. The Access Services Librarian supervises nine permanent staff and twenty-two student assistants; advises on leasing and purchasing Media Services equipment; assists with budget preparation and participates in other Patron Services Section activities, such as staffing the reference, circulation or media service desks or assisting with library instruction.
Circulation Librarian
The Circulation Librarian coordinates with the Associate Director to develop policies and implement procedures that ensure that patrons have access to Law Library resources and that resources are maximized. Trains and evaluates circulation staff members and student workers, responsible for the hiring and oversight of work schedules and payroll records. Coordinates with the University of the District of Columbia Learning Resources Division to publicize the Law Library's circulation policies and hours of operation. Provides reference assistance to patrons and serves as liaison to individual faculty members for research and reference assistance. Develops policies and implements procedures for evaluation of circulation functions, including collection and assessment of statistics for circulation, ILL, document delivery, reserve collection, and fees charged by the Library for certain services.
Systems Librarian
Administer all aspects of the Innovative Interfaces library operating system. To ensure that the system serves its purpose as the base operating system for all library operations, the Systems Librarian will use professional expertise in the following library standards and systems to operate the system: the Library of Congress Classification System, the Library of Congress Subject Heading System, subject and series authority systems; the principles and application of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (version 2); the OCLC network standards and operations; and, particularly, the formatting of MARC records and MARC indexing conventions. Customize and maintain the system and related applications to ensure access to all subscribed databases for GGU faculty and students on and off campus. Work with staff in the Law Library and University libraries on issues regarding delivery of web-based information resources, and advise staff of current trends in library technology. Serve as GGU's designated liaison to automation vendors. Guide and make recommendations to both libraries and the regional campuses concerning new products. Coordinate and conduct training with librarians and library assistants on new and updated modules, including acquisitions, serials, cataloging, circulation, reserves and electronic reserves, OPAC, and WEBPAC. Work with GGU Enterprise Technology Services staff to plan, test and maintain interfaces between library systems and other University systems (e.g., IFAS, Colleague, LDAP) and University networks. Serve as a liaison to other library technology vendors as necessary. Manage system hardware, including researching user needs and problems, and working with GGU's Enterprise Technology Services department to maintain hardware. Supervise computer lab technicians, oversee purchasing of lab equipment, set lab policies, monitor wireless and other network access in both libraries, and coordinate work with ETS as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
