As a compliance and audit leader, I help healthcare organizations reduce risk so resources can be devoted to providing exceptional patient care. Drawing upon diverse experience as a corporate attorney and former paramedic, I view compliance, privacy, and audit issues from multiple lenses and proactively collaborate with stakeholders. To build robust compliance programs, I form trusted relationships as a business partner and identify innovative solutions to complex issues in ever-changing regulatory environments. I shifted to an administrative role in EMS education and was progressively promoted through various roles within education, quality, compliance, and leadership.After developing a passion for analyzing laws and formulating them into actionable business steps, I enrolled full-time in law school.After joining the Corporate & Securities Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, I frequently conducted due diligence for clients on mid-market acquisition transactions ($50-$500M+ deals) and advised boards of directors, executives, and other leaders on a variety of legal issues. To combine my interests in healthcare and compliance, I returned to OSF HealthCare as a Compliance Officer and was rapidly promoted to Director of Compliance where I continue to champion the role of compliance in supporting leaders, providers, and patients.An opportunity to expand my leadership responsibilities as deputy chief compliance officer presented itself at Northern Arizona Healthcare. In this role, I am responsible for the compliance, audit, and privacy functions of the organization.Believing that helping train new professionals is the duty of a professional, I teach graduate courses through the Kline School of Law in Ethics, Professional Responsibility, and Compliance.
