Mary Cupelo is a Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Health Educator at ACR Health, in Central New York. For over three years, she has provided comprehensive sex education for youth, young adults, caregivers, and professionals, with a focus on LGTBQ+ inclusivity, self-advocacy, and reproductive autonomy. Cupelo aims to encourage people to be comfortable in their sexuality and empowered to take control of their sexual and reproductive health. Cupelo has taught various topics including HIV/STIs, contraceptives, healthy relationships, and puberty. She has taught in schools, community centers, undergraduate college classes, and professional settings. Through a partnership with Syracuse University’s InclusiveU Program, Cupelo has revamped and co-facilitated a sexual health class for college students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working out of the Q Center of ACR Health, Cupelo also assists with LGBTQ+ youth groups. Additionally, she has worked with parents and caregivers of transgender youth on how to talk to children about sexuality. From this collaboration, Cupelo co-presented Affirming puberty conversations for transgender and gender diverse youth at the 2022 National Sex Ed Conference. Cupelo received her BA in Psychology at Nazareth College. Currently, she is pursuing her MEd in Human Sexuality at Widener University.
