Mpho Scott is an established business executive and has been a Member of Parliament for close to ten years. He was a former Chairman of the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs; Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence; Portfolio Committee on Safety and Security; Joint Standing Committee on Defence; Parliamentary whip and KZN provincial chief whip and was also part of the Task Team on the Restructuring of the Defence Industry. He was also part of the Constitutional assembly that drafted the final constitution for the Country. He was awarded SANDF medal for his more than ten years contribution in the Military. He also worked as the State Protocol Officer during the formation of African Union, Common Wealth Conference of heads of states, International Conference of heads of States in South Africa.He was a Publicity Secretary for Congress of South African Students in Natal. He later became the coordinator for Regional Education Crisis Committee (RECC) in KZN which was part of National Education Crisis Committee (NECC).He was a member of ANC and SACP underground structures for many years and later appointed as a co secretary of Operation Vula.
