Alongside some of the best attorneys and government relations professionals in the industry, I work closely on growing and managing the exciting and dynamic Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Section and the firm's Financial Institutions, Bankruptcy and Real Estate Sections for Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney PC. In addition, I have the honor of serving as Co-Leader of the Firm's Energy Industry Team. Responsible for profit and loss, operations, marketing, and maintaining overall high quality client service for the section in an externally focused role.I work to grow and manage all business aspects of the sections, being involved in every aspect of building and running this sophisticated practice area including managing the day-to-day operations of the section and practice groups; playing a prominent role in the execution of our strategic plan and lateral hiring; providing financial management and business planning; and managing the workload of Associates and Paralegals.

Serving as the go-to Director for Communications, Community Relations and Government Affairs, I have the wonderful privilege of helping to shape the direction of the Monongahela Valley Hospital, a 200-bed, full-service health care facility with a 225-member medical staff representing more than 40 medical specialties. For more than eight years I had the great privilege to work as the top communications executive for Range Resources Corporation, a leading independent natural gas exploration and production company. I am incredibly proud of the work we did as a team and leading the strategic communications efforts for the Marcellus Shale industry in Pennsylvania and in the United States.Perhaps more exciting than anything was building and developing a trusted and proven team and communications function in a dynamic, competitive, and growing organization. This opportunity allowed me to work with internal and external stakeholders through rapid expansion, crisis situations, office closures and reductions in force, along with major and minor asset sales, mergers and acquisitionsIn this line of work you always have to be able to demonstrate and measure the value for the organization and I’m incredibly proud of our efforts to position Range as among the most respected and valued companies in the field. To take the amazing work occurring within the organization and to tell that story to our advocates, detractors and everyone in between will always be among favorite accomplishments.

From the moment I joined Columbia Gas I had worked hard to seize the opportunity to introduce change while maintaining the tradition and character of a storied organization across nine states. I had the great pleasure of initially serving as the primary spokesperson and corporate communications and community affairs manager for affiliates in Pennsylvania and Maryland where I worked on a variety of exciting infrastructure projects, while advancing policy and managing crisis and issues.I eventually was asked to serve in a special role as Brand Manager for all of NiSource's local gas distribution companies in nine states in the northeastern and midwestern portion of the U.S. where I worked to further establish positive change that began taking advantage of new and emerging digital communications advances, while promoting proven approaches.

An amazing opportunity as my first position in-house. After working for the company with their agency of record I worked closely as a company spokesperson and in government affairs, with an emphasis on local government matters. Eventually I had the great opportunity to work with senior management on both internal and external issues and serving as a primary liaison for the company and various external stakeholders.This was a terrific opportunity early in my career to work in a diverse organization in the process of enormous change through the early days of utility deregulation.

There really wasn't a facet of strategic communications that I was not afforded an opportunity to work closely on with Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications firms first established in 1953. As a young professional in their smaller Pittsburgh office I was able to work closely with colleagues on matters of public relations, public affairs, reputation and crisis management, advertising and digital strategies and eventually playing a major role in new business development.I was able to provide diverse client support in many of the firm's 72 offices and 85 affiliate offices, in 110 countries across six continents. After spearheading the new business win, I helped one client with their first launch in China where I briefly spent some time transitioning the work to the firm's affiliates in Shanghai.During this time I did it all from small projects to leading teams abroad on everything from consumer matters to technical public and private organizations, companies and agencies. The agency gave me direct access as an eager young professional to literally some of the top minds in the field of public relations.My work was always on time, under budget, with my client's achieving their goals and the agency growing and succeeding.This tremendous opportunity eventually allowed me to be recognized by PRWeek Magazine, the leading industry trade publication as their Young Professional of the Year in the U.S. in 2005.
