Together with Electricity Regulatory Authority, ERA, United Nations Development Programme, Hamlet piloted a biomass to clean Energy technology Pilot using hydropower & Lpg at Uganda's National Referral hospital,Mulago Hospital pediatric Wing,Mwanamugimu. This not only broke ground for clean energy for cooking for institutions but also a prefential tarrif for institution cooking was put forward with a carefully crafted baseline study, a win for the environment as less trees would be cut to provide the Biomass. Another ripple effect was children's lives saved at the pediatric unit resulting from faster meal preps. This really echoed Steve Job's mantra that people with passion can change the world. In Africa, people usually purchase Biomass fuels for cooking for as low as 10cents a dollar per day, We hypothesised that if we could match the purchasing behaviour of biomass(charcoal,firewood,etc) to that of clean Energy,then we can accelerator Africa's transition to cooking with clean technology. Undertook baseline studies to study cost of biomass purchase for clean cooking and we developed a smart lpg and hydropower metering system technology to enable people purchase clean fuels for cooking the same way they would previously purchase the biomass. Not only does this result in less CO² emissions, but also real great health benefits especially for women who spend alot of time in such carbon intense atmosphere trying to forge a meal for their families and the nation at large
