I have extensive experience and a passion for working within the fields of community welfare, community activism, case work, research, and public interest advocacy. A common thread within all my prior roles has been working with disadvantaged clients and within disadvantaged communities. I take a collaborative and strengths-based approach with this line of work. Where I am presently at, both at a professional and personal level, is the surmise that people intrinsically want to be involved and be connected, but are unable to do so for a variety of reasons. These reasons often relate to impacting issues centering on mental illness, individual capacity, social isolation and general forms of socioeconomic hardship. The behaviour from those experiencing such circumstances are often interpreted as apathy or as other forms of miscreant activity. I feel this is an unfair and profoundly inaccurate judgement, and I feel the explanation is a far more complex and systemic one. To explore this insight further I wish to further delve into such work, and this is where I can best provide my professional value at this time. If there are others out there with the same professional outlook, I would like to meet and hear from you.
