Designed and developed a DC micro grid testbed to evaluate blockchain enabled transactive energy market framework. Main tasks included:• Design of an IoT enabled bi-directional DC-DC buck converter. The modeling process started in Simulink, which was then verified on LTSpice and implemented on a breadboard. After detailed testing, a four layer PCB was designed (KiCAD) and assembled.• Design of an Arduino (Nano) based controller for DC-DC converter interfaced with INA-219 sensor. The DC-DC converter provided bi-directional power transfer between main bus (24VDC) and 12V SLA battery. Additional features included over/under voltage and current protection.• Distributed control algorithm implemented on Raspberry Pi (Python). The final configuration included 3 RPi communicating via WiFi and 3 DC-DC converters interfaced with RPi via UART. Additional responsibilities included managing the budget ($10,000) and time (3 months) constraints. The project was completed on time while utilizing only 70% of the allocated budget.
