Conducted extensive legal research; drafted numerous legal filings to juvenile, district, and appellate courts; observed client interviews; and worked in a spectrum of legal specialties. The greatest accomplishment during my time with Esplin | Weight was assisting with the drafting of a Response in Opposition to Petition for Extraordinary Writ or Alternatively for Permission for Interlocutory Appeal, which led to a successful resolution for the client with the Utah Court of Appeals.

Through the performance of client interviews and attorney meetings, I collected relevant data to then complete research and analyze complex legal issues, resulting in the preparation of opinions and bench memoranda on substantive and procedural matters. I appeared in the Fourth District Court over fifty times as an advocate for clients for every step of the process from Initial Appearances through to Sentencing Hearings.

Worked as the liaison between the career services branch of the U of U's Law School (Professional Development Office) and over three hundred future attorneys. Using data-driven metrics, based upon past observed or reported information, drafted a revised business model to improve the prospects of graduates, in accordance with the Dean's stipulated objectives. It was common to give presentations to groups over 100, assist in coordinating events, work with VIPs, and meet one-on-one with stakeholders.

Working with Chonta, Musaila & Pindani Advocates, in Lusaka, was an absolute pleasure, and afforded me the opportunity to experience the interchange between business and law in an international setting. During my summer, I assisted in drafting Zambian Supreme Court filings, High Court filings, Assignment Deeds, Opinions, Notices to Complete, and Articles of Incorporation. At one client's request, after seeing the scope of my research, the client requested I meet with their Director and Chairman of the Board to assist in developing the business plan that would ensure the client continued to qualify for Ministry of Finance tax benefits. Just seeing the broad scope of corporate legal issues that arose during client meetings or in filings, was an eye opening experience about the depth of potential pitfalls any organization, especially international entities, might encounter.
