Previously, I advised schools, organizations, and systems on Design Thinking, Project-Based Learning, and the shift to digital teaching tools. I was selected to deliver professional development for the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators (LACUE) conference five years in a row. Topics included: Design Thinking, Digital Citizenship, Digital Fluency, and Innovative Design among others.

As the first of its kind in Central Louisiana, the position of Media Director at a high school provides me the opportunity to teach students digital tools and inspire their creative capacities. The Media Department creates digital content to broadcast the school’s story online. We have also partnered with local and statewide organizations to create meaningful and professional content.

In 2016, I moved to my alma mater to be an integral part of investing in my community. As an alumnus, I jumped at the opportunity to teach with, and learn from, some of the most influential teachers I ever had. I worked within the Louisiana Jumpstart curriculum and experienced first-hand the travails many urban students endure looking for economic opportunities after high school. Radical intervention targeting struggling 9th graders can dramatically improve their likelihood of matriculation. On the School Leadership Team, we worked with local middle schools and the District Attorney’s office to design such a strategy.

As the team lead in redesigning the humanities curriculum, and the in-house Google for Education manager, I was appointed to provide school-wide Google training and develop the school’s social media presence. Communication and expectations are key to successful scaffolding in a department. As department Chair, I helped coordinate the reading, writing, and assessments across the English courses. I loved getting to push seniors to study and develop an idea for an actionable project. As the Senior Project Coordinator, my seniors spent the year working toward an event that challenged their learning and impacted the community. Getting students to experience the world is my passion. As the Boston Coordinator, I got to plan and pull off an annual six-day adventure through history and culture in Boston for more than 40 students.
