When I was little, I never would have told you I wanted to be a programmer when I grow up. It all started with me being good at math. Then, around the age of 13 I first encountered Pascal and it was fun! So then I was good at math and programming. Little by little, programing which could be put into practice and whose results I could see on the screen, results that would move and be colorful, won over challenging, yet uninspiring, math.After that there were my bachelor studies of computer science at the University of Belgrade. From a small city, I moved to the capital, and my life changed accordingly! Still unsure which field I'm interested in, I chose general studies covering both software and hardware subjects. It soon became clear to me that software development is my passion, and after a couple of years I started working as a full-time iOS developer.My first employment gave me many valuable experiences. To start with the "tangible" ones, I learned Objective-C, a not-so-difficult task since I had previous experience with object-oriented programming. Secondly, that was my first encounter with mobile development, a field in which I could see myself developing further. I had the opportunity to learn from more experienced developers and, at the same time, I was also given a chance to help out younger, less experienced members. This turned out to be a great opportunity to experience team work from many different positions and aspects.All these big and small, everyday, real-life situations convinced me that I wanted to improve not just my programming skills and knowledge, but myself as well, so I decided to challenge myself and pursue master studies abroad. My application to Technical University Munich (TUM) was accepted and so I packed my suitcases and moved.After finishing my master studies, I can now say that I accomplished my main goals for going abroad in the first place: I broadened my knowledge as a software developer, and I experienced living and working in a multicultural environment.
