DirectorFilfmorum, Los Angeles 1994 - 2003I managed Filmforum through it's most difficult period. There was little or no funding from the City or the State and we needed to rethink our practices to generate revenues from the door. We hosted the only comprehensive screening of Hollis Frampton's MAGELLAN CCYLE and we did the first complete retrospectives of James Benning, Erika Suderberg and other key experimental filmmakers. Filmforum is still thriving today.

ProducerThe Criterion Collection 1991 - 1999I created several standard-setting editions for the collection including: LORD OF THE FLIES, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, ANDREI RUBLEV and ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS. (Some of these were ported from laserdisc to DVD and are still available on DVD.) I also brought Seijun Suzuki to the collection and I proud to say that yes, I did THE ROCK (with Sean Anderson). Sean and and I also did what I think is still the best edition of THIS IS SPINAL TAP. I recently re-edited my commentary with Bertolucci for THE LAST EMPEROR and my commentary with Wim Wenders and Peter Falk for WINGS OF DESIRE.
