As Director of Innovation, I collaborated with an extensive team to lead initiatives that enhanced infrastructure, economic growth, and community wellbeing across the city. Together, we developed a citywide fiber optic network that fostered competition among internet service providers, resulting in better service quality and lower costs for residents and businesses. Working cross-functionally, we implemented strategic homelessness policies that provided sustainable, community-focused solutions. Our team modernized zoning regulations to support economic development, attract investment, and promote sustainable growth. We also partnered with a fiscal sponsor to manage city nonprofit accounts, improving financial oversight and accountability. As part of the Steering Committee for the revitalization of Harris Riverfront Park, I contributed to transforming it into a vital community hub. Through Smart City initiatives, our team modernized urban infrastructure and services to enhance efficiency and quality of life. Additionally, we implemented a new CRM system and the Huntington 311 App to streamline city services and improve public access to municipal resources.

As Compass Program Director, I worked alongside an outstanding team to lead the City of Huntington’s Compass program, overseeing a budget of approximately $350,000 and guiding three full-time staff members. This collaborative program, successfully replicated in Louisville, KY, earned national recognition from Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation. Together with healthcare professionals and through the support of the Bloomberg Philanthropies U.S. Mayors Challenge, we developed a globally recognized initiative that set new standards for improving the physical and mental health of police and fire personnel. Conducting research under an IRB, we measured the program's impact on first responders’ health, which I shared with community members and government officials to encourage broader adoption. Additionally, I oversaw the team’s efforts in developing a $1.8 million state-of-the-art wellness center to expand health resources for personnel, ensuring effective budget management and cultivating strong partnerships with grant sources, City Council, Police and Fire Departments, and donors.

As Program Manager, I led comprehensive training sessions on advanced program management techniques, strengthening team capabilities and improving project execution. I offered strategic guidance on personnel management, fostering team cohesion and implementing efficient data management practices. I conducted in-depth research on economic development initiatives to identify growth opportunities and support strategic planning. Additionally, I prepared detailed Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) applications, supporting project funding and advancing development efforts.

As a Judith A. Herndon Fellow, I contributed to the legislative process by drafting bills, floor amendments, and resolutions to support policy development. Working closely with the Chief Counsel, I addressed complex legislative issues and offered strategic solutions. I prepared detailed memoranda and briefed caucus members on key policy proposals to support informed decision-making. During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, I provided research for the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, aiding their response efforts. Additionally, I played an integral role in legislative rulemaking and the development of state agency rules, gaining valuable experience in administrative rulemaking and parliamentary procedure.

As a Front Desk Associate, I gained valuable insights into the economic impact of tourism on the community, particularly the increasing significance of sports tourism. I welcomed guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a positive and memorable arrival experience, while efficiently addressing and resolving concerns to uphold high standards of satisfaction and service quality. I coordinated with various departments to provide seamless guest services, managed room reservations and special requests, and aligned amenities with guest expectations. Additionally, I fostered a collaborative workplace environment that strengthened teamwork and efficiency, and I collected and evaluated guest feedback to identify opportunities for enhancing service.

As a Legislative Intern, I managed daily office operations, coordinating with multiple legislative teams to ensure smooth workflows and efficiency. I worked closely with Senators and their staff to align and advance policy goals, supporting cohesive legislative strategies. I handled constituent service inquiries with responsiveness and professionalism, and I drafted and managed outgoing correspondence on behalf of Senator Manchin to uphold strong communication and advocacy. Additionally, I organized and led tours of the U.S. Capitol, helping to enhance public understanding of legislative processes. Through this experience, I gained expertise in parliamentary rules, including Robert's Rules of Order, Mason's Manual, and Thomas Jefferson's Manual of Parliamentary Practice for the Senate.
