Senior Applications Engineer
• Leads installations for plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) tool, specializing in dielectric deposition.• Acts as “installation coordinator” for new tools in North America, focusing on proper tool setup, process install planning, final process report guidance while working with North American management, process and hardware teams to ensure a smooth tool install. Also mentored newer Applications Engineers in ways to approach tool installs with respect to both the customers and the processes they run.• Proactively developed a catalog of training materials for hardware engineers to properly understand the process setup for tools in the field, along with procedures for proper reporting of results/issues. Delivered presentations and trained staff members.• Acted as an escalation process engineer for customers’ questions on process and endpoint development, along with simple hardware issues.• Created BKM (Best Known Method) documents for the proper procedures ensuring ICP chambers are ready for production.• Represented SPTS at the ECTC conference presenting a talk on Plasma Dicing
Applications Engineer
• Acted as the process lead on the installation of SPTS etch modules for multiple production, R&D companies, and universities. Ensured the tools fulfill all customer specifications, while training other process engineers and operators on tool usage. Helps develop customer improvement plans (CIPs) as needed. Provided detailed process reports following every customer-related project.• Extensive experience in Silicon (DRIE/Bosch Process), III-V ICP, dielectric, metal, novel material and isotropic release etching (HF and XeF2). Wafer size experience from 75mm to 300mm for MEMS, Power, BAW and SAW devices.• Led and developed process demonstrations for potential customers. Gained experience on multiple metrology approaches, including the usage of SEM.• Assisted in “live demonstrations” for customers that showed the process ability of toolsets. Works closely with the Wales-based factory team on process installations and questions from the field.• Applied basic “Design of Experiments” concepts for process development planning and analysis, while being exposed to statistical process control for optimizing customer production.• Solved, remotely and onsite, customers’ process issues and spurred further development of new processes needed.• Led customer training for developing processes using SPTS tools and utilizing endpoint for added process control.
Research Assistant
• Using an ultra high vacuum chamber to study the chemical dynamics of Si Etching with fluorinated noble gas dimers. An internal, rotatable line of sight mass spectrometer fitted with a pseudorandom chopper for time-of-flight analysis is used for data acquisition.• Operating and maintaining two precisely coupled, triply differentially pumped molecular beam sources. The beams are used to expose the Si crystal to both reactive and noble gases.• Familiar with the design and engineering of components to interface with the existing apparatus to add functionality as desired.• Worked with the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) to design energy based problems and concepts for introductory chemistry and biology courses, along with mentoring undergraduates in a project-based energy course.
