Merging the Japan operations of Inter-Tel, Inc (NASDAQ: INTL) with Mitel Networks Corporation (NASDAQ: MITL) allowed for a whole new lineup of hardware and software services, all focusing on the Japan market and NTT services integration.Through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, we continue to enhance our product portfolio and strengthen our presence in Japan.We also provide OEM/ODM design, manufacturing and support to our Japan partners, increasing market viability.

After a merger between Inter-Tel Inc. (NASDAQ: INTL) and Mitel Networks Corporation (NASDAQ: MITL) in August 2007, we collectively enhanced our offering to the Japan market to include Mitel products and services, distributed through Mitel's global network of dealers. Inter-Tel Japan, K.K. remained a direct subsidiary of Mitel Networks and primarily focused on direct and distributor support of Inter-Tel products and services to the Japan market.

My role in business development for Moxtra (MObileXTRA's) was to provide both financial and human resources for development of the Moxtra platform in the Japan and ASEAN regions. With this support, we are able to secure, develop, and support large deals, often beyond the reach of the parent company. I worked closely with both our US and Asian teams to establish local business entities, develop efficient business models and marketing teams, leading to stronger regional sales and support of Moxtra. Our team also handled administration and accounting processes at the local level, as well appointment of key executives in each country we penetrated.

After establishing AltiGen Communications Japan, K.K., our Japan and U.S. teams worked closely to develop a fully localized version of AltiGen's 'AltiServ', targeting advanced call center operations. We also developed a new VoIP terminal exclusively for the Japan market, supporting KANJI characters. We developed a strong channel partner network, and launched the first cloud-based telecom service in Japan, known as 'BabyBell'. To increase our adoption rates for cloud-based communications, I authorized white-labeling of our technologies to our valued channel partners, significantly increasing market viability.

Through the introduction of Vocal'Net by Inter-Tel, we brought the first wave of VoIP to over 35 million people in Japan (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/japans-ntt-joins-internet-telephony-campaign/).I assumed management of Inter-Tel, Inc. (Japan operations) in 2001. Leveraging 20+ years of government and private sector telecommunications experience, I pushed Inter-Tel to be the first company in Japan to bring VoIP services directly to enterprise users.Our TDM/VoIP-enabled platforms, combined with our cloud-based 'BabyBell' services allowed us to gain significant market advantage over our competitors.

From the mid-90's, Belcom was a recognized leader in the development and deployment of international callback technologies, targeting international businesses operating in Japan. Our goal was simple, to break the back of overpriced Japanese international telecom carriers, and pave the way for a new generation of technology, known as VoIP. Belcom also sold and supported all models of cellular handsets available in Japan, and each unit was fully integrated with our callback technologies, allowing staff of Japan-based businesses to save up to 55% off their international traffic charges when compared with traditional Japanese carriers. Revenues more than doubled during each year of operation as we accomplished our goal.Belcom was acquired in 2001 by Marin Telemanagement Corporation (MTC) - Netsource Communications, Inc., who provided the backbone of Belcom international callback technologies. The relationship between Belcom and MTC - Netsource fostered rapid growth of the callback service sector in Japan. This growth later led to the establishment of MTC - Netsource direct sales and support offices in Japan. Annual revenues typically exceeded $100,000,000 until callback technology was made obsolete by direct dial services, and again later by VoIP.Belcom was also a leading distributor of Inter-Tel technologies in Japan, and in 2001 I joined Inter-Tel (NASDAQ: INTL) serving as Representative Director of their Japan-based entity.
