Whilst in the United Kingdom, I joined BT as Lead Convergence Consultant for the Financial Services division. This was a senior, strategic, sales-focused technical role aimed at providing the BT Financial Services division with CIO-level technical presales consultancy and support.

General consultancy for EMI Music Group, Cisilion and Horizon MTS (Cisco training partner).

For the first year my initial focus with Datacraft was with the Telco and ISP market and with accounts that required a high level of technical focus (e.g. legacy networks). For the next two years I was heavily focused on Enterprise customers, providing high-level network designs to meet the customers needs. This was a customer-focused project role, with post-sales consultancy handover and project management on key projects. I was expected to consult, design and assist in the selling of solutions utilising available Cisco products and Datacraft services. Solutions included VPN, Security and Security Management, Network Management, LAN and WAN design (secure wireless and wired) and Voice over IP.

At LAN 1 I had a dual role - both Channel Manager, with a list of twenty customers to support, and Cisco Product Manager. LAN 1 is a Value Added Distributor, and my job entailed acting as my customers’ network consultant and assisting in the sales process as well as standard Channel Management responsibilities. I also led frequent seminars (at least one per month) and made regular visits to the LAN 1 customer base to provide formal and informal presentations and training.
