In this project, I am working through clapself for a small financial AI company, I completing a migration from AWS ECS to Google Kubernetes Engine. The platform consisted of a suite of microservices agents built on Llama 3 and Gemini. The platform's primary focus was to facilitate rapid and comprehensive strategic decisions regarding investments and risk management based on market trends and interest rates. It considered current interest rate fluctuations and hypothetical changes to guide investment decisions. The measurable end results were the following: - An 80% reduction in cloud services costs; - Greatly enhanced security via improved container orchestration & container hardening. - Improved secrets management. - CI/CD pipelines built for multiple environments including production - Implementation of fast rollback and blue / green deployment. - Introduction of ArgoCD into the CI/CD pipeline. - Improved Telemetry for both the app and the Kubernetes cluster. - Enhanced monitoring of services using prometheus and grafana. - Regular use of penetration testing and automated security audits for significant attack surface reduction. Leading the charge in a team of three engineers to migrate the 400 development teams at pearson.com to a cloud agnostic microservices architecture. First we are designing survey questions used to assessing the current state of each project.Next we catalog issues, concerns & roadblocks to be addressed in the process; then quantify survey data to calculate a migration score. Higher scores = easier to migrate. Lower scores = more difficult. Once sorted by difficulty, the list of apps and supporting data is presented to stakeholders in a Global Microservices Migration Readiness Assessment Report. This report drives the migration strategy, approach and schedule for both Senior Management and microservices implementation team. It is the master tool for defining next steps, backlog items, and implementation priority for each of the 400 dev teams.Finally I am creating a roadshow. I use the report data items to build tools and working examples of how to automate deployment; configure logging, monitoring, alerting, rollback, testing and autoscaling of monolithic apps in the new environment. Migrating to Microservices is projected to yield a cloud hosting average cost savings of 40%, Test coverage expected to increase by 60% on average.
