The CUNY Black Male Initiative is a university-wide student development initiative with more than 30 campus programs focused on increasing matriculation, retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students, particularly men of color. I advised the NYC Department of Correction's executive leadership on policy, operations and strategic planning. My portfolio included, procurement, recruitment & hiring, staff professional development, culture change, public relations, internal communications and security management.

I sponsored a host of initiatives that promoted wellness and healthy living in New York City. One of my key accomplishments included starting the Fitness for Flatbush program which allows for hundreds of Central Brooklyn residents to participate in free weekly results-driven aerobics and core-strengthening exercise classes led by certified fitness instructors. Furthermore, I led a grass-root event marketing campaign for the initial roll-out of the affordable care act (ObamaCare) which resulted in thousands of New Yorkers obtaining qualify affordable health coverage.

Led a college enrollment campaign that led to over 300 first - time college students applying to CUNY within a span of six months. In addition to managing all digital channels, i designed workshops for prospective students and trained a team of ten staff members to execute the sessions effectively.

Created drug prevention community coalitions throughout the city. Worked with members of each community to address the drug and alcohol problem within their neighborhood. Created partnerships with legislators to enact several policies that would help reduce substance misuse in the city.
