Practice ManagerMydentist (Uk) Nov 2020 - Dec 2023Hayle, England, United KingdomBoth Carnon Downs & Hayle Dental practice are mainly private. Before this project could start, I had to become CQC registered (Care Quality Commission) to enable me to legally manage the practice. This involved courses on child & adult safeguarding, equality & diversity act, GDPR, health & safety, along with general compliance. My first act as manager was to have 1-2-1 meetings with all the staff. This built up a picture of what was operationallyhappening and what individuals thought of the company. It became clear that the company was not seen in a good light mainly because of product quality. NHS practices use budget materials, IDH being a large corporate has a list of materials which private dentists were unhappy with. There was also a number of simply solved contract issues.Within the first 6 months I have become CQC registered, retained and acquired clinicians for the first time in the 5 years IDH have run the business. All surgeries are now in use 5 days a week, offering implants and facial cosmetics on Saturdays and late on Wednesdays. The average hourly income from a clinician has gone from £130ph to £240ph. Budget FY21/22 achieve 300k more than any previous year yielding an additional 26% EBITA.FY22/23 both sites achieved budgets with Hayle bringing in over 1M for the first time. In the current finical crisis this site is operating in the top 4% of the company’s portfolio.FY23/24 Hayle is on target to hit 1.2M with Carnon pushing the 1M mark for the first time.My proudest moment was Carnon Downs being nominated for practice of the year award. We were up against over 650 practices from across the UK. On the 3rd November 2023 at a flashy awards ceremony in Manchester, we won. In 2 years I had taken a negative, failing practice to become best practice in the UK! -
