I started working for Leisure and Culture Dundee, mainly as a Lifeguard working at Olympia, Lochee and Harris Academy which is run by Leisure and Culture. Since working for Leisure and Council I have greatly increased my knowledge as a lifeguard and found myself in many high pressure situations. I am very confident with dealing with members of the public in a polite professional way as customer care in understanding is very important. In the summer of 2017 I obtained the UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics qualifications and since then I have been working for Leisure and Culture Dundee at Grove Swim and Sports Centre and St, Pauls Swim and Sports Centre teaching children and Adults of various ages how to swim. In October 2018 I obtained the UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics. Since working as a swim teacher my knowledge of swimming has improved but also how to best teach individuals with different personalities in order to get the best out of them. Part of my job also includes spending time carrying out reception and administration work at the facility, serving customers, counting money and managing banking procedures.Since early spring 2018 I have also regularly worked as an Acting Team Leader. Whilst performing the role of Acting Team Leader I am ultimately responsible for the running on the facility I am operating within during the course of that shift. This included managing staff and the general running of the facility.

I started working at Swim School Dundee in 2014 and worked there until December 2017. I was employed lifeguard at the swimming lessons which were for children aged 4+ but I frequently worked as a Swim Teachers Assistant. Working at the Swim School Dundee provided me with a great opportunity to gain experience in a swimming lesson environment. Examples of this include, the general principles of pool safety when lifeguarding and how to communicate pool safety to the children in a way easy for them to understand. When being a swim teacher’s assistant I gained a lot of knowledge of how to teach the four main strokes whilst making the learning fun for the children.
