The work of Research Integrity Unit (RIU) includes significant case management of complaints, investigations and appeals as well as education and training in relation to the responsible conduct of students and researchers (both academic and professional staff) at UNSW Sydney.RIU is a small team with responsibility of research integrity at UNSW (over 6000 researchers). RIU is responsible for ensuring UNSW research is conducted with integrity (including leading review of Research Code of Conduct and relevant policies/procedures), and provides support to the Director, UNSW Conduct & Integrity in case managing complaint and research misconduct matters, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) with research misconduct inquiry panels.Roles included: - Managing the team. - Stakeholder engagement across UNSW including Executive, Deans, Senior/Deans and Associate Deans, Researchers and senior research administrators. - Policy advice to researchers and professional staff. - Overseeing and management of research integrity case load. - Investigation and case management of research integrity matter. - Providing training and advice in training relating to research integrity at UNSW. - Engaging with partners at other academic institutions in NSW and Nationally. - Driving research integrity policy at UNSW.

Provided high level and strategic project support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Executive Officer. This included: - Preparing strategic reports and submissions relevant to research strategy at UNSW. - Project support to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) in areas including rankings, ERA, UNSW funding grants. - Supporting and managing records in research integrity matters. - Providing case management with respect to research integrity matters at UNSW.

Provided advice to UNSW Canberra (ADFA) researchers with respect to research contracts and contracts for services. This included: - Drafting and reviewing contracts for researchers where they were receiving funding from the Commonwealth. - Drafting and reviewing contracts for researchers where they were partnering/contracting with industry and other academic institutions in research projects. - Providing advice to researchers with respect to legal obligations, legal aspects, intellectual property with respect to research activities.

Solicitor working primarily in Commercial Litigation and commercial transactions for clients. Main clients were in the building industry and small to medium business owners. This included: - Writing and submitting pleadings in court. - Representing clients at hearing. - Drafting and preparing commercial agreements. - Providing advice to clients with respect to commercial arrangements and agreements.Also provided advice with respect to family law arrangements (dissolution of relationships and applications to the Family Court) and preparing Wills.
