I have a simple; to elevate the voice and professional profiles of teachers throughout Sub Saharan Africa by connecting the wider ecosystem together, and placing teachers at the centre of discourse and development. I am a seasoned education leader and a determined social entrepreneur with a strong sense of social justice, and an unwavering belief that Africa can lead the world in the global education transformation agenda. My key strength lies in the development of leaders and leadership skills. I believe schools that focus on the growth of leadership skills at all levels, ultimately become great schools, no matter the size of their budgets; and it is these great schools that produce the true leaders of the future. The concept of communities is also something which I believe to be integral to successful education systems. Where communities are strong, levels of support and engagement are greater and everybody in the community benefits. As a Headteacher I purposefully focussed on community development both within the school community and further afield, by involving people into conversations, and enabling them to feel a part of something bigger. I am now the CEO and Founder of Ubuntu Education, a company founded to achieve what no-one else has yet achieved; bringing all stakeholders together, in the spirit of ‘Ubuntu’ to enact broadscale, meaningful and impactful change.
