About David O'Leary Lib Qfa
I graduated with a 2:1 BSc in Product Design & Technology from the University of Limerick in 2008. Since that time, I have worked in a range of industries including the gaming industry, product design, sales and marketing, fund-raising and manufacturing.Despite the range of experience I have achieved, there are key strengths that I can offer to prospective employers and partners. I have always had a very strong interest and aptitude in many different areas of technology. I excelled in performance in the gaming industry supporting customers in the EMEA region on the Microsoft Xbox contract. I have always had an interest in gaming and hardware and built my own PC in 2008 specifically for product design 3D modelling and rendering as well as gaming.I have always been a people person happy to help, explain and resolve any issues a client or customer may have. This strength proved very useful in sales, fund-raising and customer service. I was responsible for a team of sales agents during my time with SMP Ltd. spending some time in Auckland and Hamilton, New Zealand in this role. The sales position was commission only and the initial challenges of ensuring the pressure I might be under to earn did not come across to customers when selling the product has proven useful time and time again in various similar circumstances. The challenges of this position were very similar to those faced in a fund-raising position I held in Total Fundraising shortly after my return to Ireland.I have worked on several design projects either as a partner or contractor which has allowed me to keep my skills sharp. I was found to have great strengths in concept generation, user needs identification, ergonomics, aesthetic design, 3D modelling and presentation.I know there are industries and employers who can put these strengths to use and enable me to reach my potential in the professional arena.

This involved the same principles with some different restrictions. At all times, I would be taking 2-3 chat sessions with customers at a time.Due to previous expertise and the knowledge I learned during my time on the contract, I was also asked to complete various metric reports, analyses of our competing contractors for my various managers in the company. I spent considerable periods of time as a temporary technical adviser to my fellow agents. This consisted of walking the call center floor and answering any questions on policy or process that came up during calls. Show less

Contact are an electricity and gas provider in New Zealand. Prior to enlisting the Cobra group, they had fallen out of touch with their competition with regards to their image and pricing. Our job was to greet potential customers, show them the new image in person and make customers aware of new pricing structures that were more appealing. After some time as one of the most consistent agents in the company, I began to train new agents in the various principles and techniques required to ensure success in this commission only business. My aptitude for training and leadership was quickly recognized and I was promoted to Team Leader. I managed a team of sales agents taking a commission on top of their sales. This position came with a lot of overtime and a new level of discussion with senior members of the company and it's parent organisation.Despite my success within the company, I found after time that it was not a position for me. I found that although I had grown many new strengths, I was using very little of my previous experience and education and felt that I could be better utilised in a new career. It was at this time that I decided to leave the company and move home to look for new opportunities. Show less

The emphasis in this position was productivity and quality. We were given targets of 15 screens assembled an hour when the demand was there ensuring that each screen that left our work station would pass the final quality check when the screen had been attached to the base by a separate build team.I consistently met and exceeded targets during my time in this demanding position while on a 'swing shift' schedule (4 x 10 hr. days one week, 4 x 10 hr. nights the following week etc.). However, in November 2009, due to the economic climate, Dell began to roll down their manufacturing center in Limerick. Those on a temporary contract with the company, including myself, were the first to be let go followed in the next year by all other levels within the center. Show less

One of the key advantages to my course was an in depth module in the use of the Solidworks 3D design package. My first contract with Brightside was to assist Cian in taking his knowledge of this package to the next level as he moved away from the Rhino 3D design package. I assisted in the modelling of the current product at the time also.I was contracted at a later date to take Cian's design work from the sketchbook to 3D in Solidworks due to the time constraints of multiple contracts he was managing at the time. The product was particularly interesting although, unfortunately, it cannot be discussed to to a still active non-disclosure agreement.During the periods I was contracted primarily for my Solidworks expertise, I was also invited to discuss various design solutions with Cian as well as some work producing quick sketch models in the work shop to test out various user experience considerations of the product mentioned above.
