The Arc Initiative is a global non-profit consulting organization that focuses on entrepreneurs in developing and frontier economies, operating in Cambodia, Colombia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and South Africa. In addition to providing consulting services to local businesses, Arc also runs an annual conference in each country, where current and aspiring entrepreneurs are taught basic business analysis tools to aid in their ventures.My time with the Arc Initiative began with a 3-month workup and training program, where I learned the conference curriculum, and practiced various methods of teaching. From there, I spent 8 weeks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia working with businesses in the structural engineering, private education, paper, landscaping and medical industries.• Developed a DCF and IRR model for a structural engineering firm to determine potential investment opportunities• Forged a partnership between UBC and Iceaddis, a technology focused incubator hub connecting social entrepreneurs with international mentors to create a pipeline for future seed investments• Organized and executed a 5-day business conference for 60 entrepreneursFor more information on Arc, check out:http://www.sauder.ubc.ca/Programs/Chnook/Partners/Network_Partners/The_ARC_Initiative
