Michael Rheinheimer is an accomplished and dedicated journalist, with experience in both print and broadcast media. He has a passion for local news and storytelling through journalism. Michael's passion for building relationships with sources is matched only by his passion for good coffee.His story began in second grade, when he was told, sadly, he could not grow up to be a Jedi Knight. But at his school's career day, he met a reporter for WNDU in South Bend. This reporter told the class about how he had reported on an underground dog - fighting ring, and thanks to his report, the South Bend Police Department was able to bring the organizers to justice. It was then that young Michael learned he did not need a lightsaber to make the world a better place.In high school, Michael's passion for storytelling was fed by work on the school newspaper, the school television station, the school yearbook, and the school's Speech & Debate Team, where he won first place in many Broadcasting competitions across Indiana.Michael then enrolled at the University of Indianapolis, graduating in May of 2016 with his Bachelor of Science in Communications. During Michael's time at UIndy, he worked on the school newspaper, the school radio station, and the school TV station. He also explored his passion for community development, by helping to create the UIndy Modern Language Club. He also gave back to the people of Indianapolis' south side by tutoring at the YMCA's after - school program.Today, Michael lives in Central Indiana and covers everything from breaking news to human interest features. He can be heard on - air at WCBK - FM in Martinsville, every weekday at noon. He considers himself a constant learner, and likes to spend his free time at conferences, taking online reporting courses, or reading books to make himself the best reporter he can be.Because to Michael, it's all about giving the public the news they deserve, from a reporter who cares.
