As Executive Director, my task for this non profit organization that provides affordable housing to the island of Sanibel a very affluent community was immense. Over my eleven years with CHR, the first five years as Board Treasurer when I brought financial discipline to the organization and the past six years as Executive Director, my journey with CHR has been nothing short of extraordinary. Throughout my time at CHR we have accomplished remarkable feats, leaving an indelible impact on the lives of countless individuals and families who are such an intricate part of our island. Under my leadership we have overcome financial instability, and today I am proud to say that CHR has $2.9 million dollars in the bank. I worked with the CHR Board and volunteers to expand awareness of our organization through marketing, press releasees, social media and community fundraisers, including our annual “Mardi Gras” celebration. I created the “Give Back Wednesday” campaign, as a way to raise funds while featuring local businesses who support our affordable housing mission. I have written and received multiple grants for the organization, and prepared and presented presentations to local social organizations, foundations, businesses, and stakeholders that has propelled CHR’s success over the last several years.  On September 28, 2023, all of Sanibel CHR's 73 affordable rental properties were severely impacted by Hurricane Ian and we lost 11 units completely. I worked efficiently to mitigate the damage, apply for grants, hire contractors, meet adjusters to restore our properties quickly. The first 29 units were reoccupied December 2022 and another 19 units were reoccupied by February 2023. The majority of our units were restored by May 2023. A remarkable feat considering more than 60% of the Sanibel was still not habitable.Under my expertise and leadership CHR has thrived. Leaving it financially stronger, structurally resilient and poised for future opportunities.
