Forced to leave position following near fatal road traffic accident

• Responsible for talent identification and assessment across the entire men's international pathway (U10 to Senior).• Attend regular live fixtures at every level, providing player observation reports to support optimal selection decision-making. Video reporting also undertaken.

• Active talent reporting across the U13-U23 academy age-groups, both live and using match footage. Daily use of both Wyscout and Scout7 (ISF) in order to source footage, assess priority players and highlight prospective monitor players.• Line & performance managed team of Talent Reporters based across the country as part of comprehensive fixture planning strategy. Regular formal and informal communication with all staff to ensure efficient sharing of information and to support ongoing professional development.• Managed significant increase in the number of players observed both on England training camps and at club level across the phase. Formalised Pre-Pathway talent identification strategy. • Chaired both Selection and Grading meetings across the Youth Development Phase on a quarterly basis, ensuring effective collaboration across the coaching and multi-disciplinary team. Coordinated and led fortnightly player review meetings with National Lead Coaches.• Introduced club engagement strategy to facilitate purposeful, two-way communication between professional clubs and the F.A. in order to promote more optimal selection decision-making. • Managed the introduction of a new talent reporting framework and reporting form across the Youth Development Phase.• Introduced widespread use of video reporting across the phase, helping to ensure that decision-making was as data-driven and evidence-based as possible.• Involvement in England training camps, including the development and application of new player assessment and observation methodologies (e.g. digital on-camp observation log, PHIQ). • Formally assessed F.A. Talent ID Level 4 final projects and presentations as part of F.A. Education panel.

I was very lucky to spend my working life pursuing my passion for player talent ID within the beautiful game.Working alongside a number of hugely talented colleagues at West Bromwich Albion F.C. – a club that shares my hard work ethic and determination to find, develop and retain future Premier League footballers – was a fantastic experience and I am proud of the contributions I have made to the club’s ongoing success over recent seasons. My successes included:• Developed WBA Talent ID Football Education Programme. Contributed more than fifteen academy signings during the 2017/18 season alone, reaffirming the club’s reputation as the region’s best recruiter & developer of local talent. Previously managed & strengthened WBA Colts programme. • Introduced WBA PASS (Player Assessment System Scheme), allowing us to make the most efficient decisions possible on all new players U9-U16. Comprehensive feedback also provided to all participants.• Launched ‘Beat the Baggies’ (www.beatthebaggies.com) – the country’s first large-scale, digital player recruitment project. Widespread coverage across mainstream media both nationally & internationally.• Extensive scouting experience, both at grassroots and academy level. Personally responsible for the discovery and signing of several academy players.• Coordination and monitoring of scouting team using purposely created CRM software. Also managed large team of ‘coach-recruiters’.• Launching the West Bromwich Albion F.C. Talent Identification website (www.wbatid.com), providing a digital bridge between the club and grassroots players/parents/teams. • Targeted recruitment using population specific player recruitment projects – all of which cost the club almost nothing to launch and run! (E.g. WBA Late Developers’ Project & WBA Left Footers’ Project)• Actively contributing to the club’s successful EPPP Category 1 audit application, including statistical analysis of the success of our department.

Achievements included:• More than ten WBA Colts' players were signed to the West Bromwich Albion F.C. Academy during the 2014/15 season, including one player who has subsequently gone on to represent his country at international youth level. • Overseeing the development and assessment of over 200 aspiring footballers across five age-groups (U11-U15), as well as a staff of 20 professional level coaches and other support staff..• Introducing a comprehensive curriculum of age-specific learning objectives, incorporating a revised session and match-day coaching structure, objective measurement of all aspects of the process, and regular assessments of player perceptions to facilitate the successful application of these objectives.• Formalising the WBA Late Birthday Project to target the Relative Age Effect (RAE) more effectively. This included the creation of a weekly futsal training programme as well as a monthly games programme for players born between April & August.• Promoted to Academy Recruitment Officer in March 2015.

• Coached all playing squads with particular focus on the U14 age-group. All players scouted by the club’s Recruitment Department.• Responsible for all player development and assessment matters, recommending players for full academy trials at the club as and when I felt they were ready to take the step up.• Regular discussion with Head of Academy Recruitment, recommending players for full academy trials at the club as and when I felt they were ready to take the step up.• During my tenure as coach, three U14 players were signed to the West Bromwich Albion F.C. academy. A further four U14 players were given extended academy trials at the club over the same period. • Promoted to WBA Academy Recruitment Manager in May 2014.

• Responsibility for the planning and delivery of coaching sessions for a squad of 60 players (3 teams) aged between 18-24yrs, with specific responsibility for the club’s first XI.• Incorporated basic statistical analysis into the process to further players’ understanding and improve match-day performances.• Left position to commit myself fully to full-time role at West Bromwich Albion F.C.

• Worked with grassroots football coaches to improve coaching practice, develop club infrastructure and provide professional guidance in line with the F.A.’s ‘Future Game’ blueprint.• Responsibilities included planning, running and observing sessions, communicating with individual coaches and larger groups (both on and off the field), and facilitating the development of sustainable, coach-led club training programmes.• Left position to commit myself fully to full-time role at West Bromwich Albion F.C.
