Michael is an award-winning broadcast journalist, storyteller, and content producer. He currently hosts WPBS Weekly: Inside the Stories, and he serves on the faculty of the School of Communication, Media and the Arts at the State University of New York at Oswego. Michael's career as a television journalist began on New Year's Eve 1999 at WIVT-TV in Binghamton, NY, where he worked as a videographer, reporter, and producer. In January 2001, Michael joined WSYR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Syracuse, NY. In April 2007, he became the co-anchor of the top-rated morning show in the market. Michael also served as a general assignment reporter, newscast producer, and digital content producer. During his time at WSYR-TV, Michael traveled extensively covering major stories for WSYR and stations owned by WSYR's parent company. He covered the 2004 tsunami from the battered shores of Sri Lanka. Michael also provided live coverage from the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. Michael's work has received multiple honors from the Associated Press, the New York State Broadcasters​ Association, the Syracuse Press Club, the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts, and the Educational Advertising Awards. Michael joined SUNY Oswego as a full-time professor of broadcasting and mass communication in 2011. He serves as the co-coordinator of SUNY Oswego's Los Angeles program, Hollywood POV. In addition, Michael is the faculty advisor to SUNY Oswego's award-winning student television station, WTOP-10. Michael earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While at SU, Michael gained national attention by placing first in the annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation National Television News Competition.Michael completed his graduate work at Le Moyne College, where he studied adult education.
