Some of my best memories from childhood involve stories – the Puranas, fairytales, Balarama, Tinkle, Harry Potter… And I would wonder. Why did anyone employ Suppandi? Didn’t Rapunzel’s kingdom not have law and order? Why were students given detention in the Forbidden Forest?Years down the lane, today I am pursuing an Integrated M.Sc. in Economics from Dr. B R Ambedkar School of Economics University, Bengaluru. And now I wonder about economic decisions too. Why do we instinctively think Rs.499 is much cheaper than Rs.500? Why did the price of gold rapidly increase? Why isn’t the minimum wage rising at the same rate as inflation? I find the economy as interesting a story as 'Malgudi Days'. My love of storytelling is not limited to economics though. As the Communications Head of E-Cell BASE – U, I hope to leverage my ability to tell stories to curate engaging and informative content on LinkedIn and Instagram. My experience as the PR and Design Head of the BASE-U Quiz Club, where I learned effective and professional communication, social media management, and designing on Canva, has given me valuable insights to achieve this goal.Beyond economics, literature, and quizzing, I harbor an interest in geopolitics. In 2019 I was lucky to be a part of the ROSE Program, a socio-educational cultural exchange program between my high school and a sister school in Nepal. That experience has taught me a lot – to appreciate the similarities and differences in culture, adapt to unfamiliar surroundings, and navigate social situations. It has also played a significant role in shaping my aspiration to be a diplomat.
