I was the only High Schooler, among graduates and undergraduates from the university, who learned about website design, Arduino IDE, microcontrollers, electronic devices, sensors, and PCB prototyping basics.Learned how to approach a problem with the design thinking method and empathize with it to find a solution using IoT devices.

We were 25 high schoolers selected from different parts of India, for a five week long D.I.Y. boot camp ‘Change.Makers’ organised by IIT Delhi. We had an amazing coordinator of our camp, Prof. Jay Dhariwal, Dept. of Design, who helped us with all sorts of problems.We got golden opportunity to work at state-of-the-art facilities available at the Makerspace (a DIY Central Research Facility at IIT Delhi) and QuEST Lab, with IITD Professors, Project Scientists and Research Scholars who helped us extensively throughout our journey to convert our crazy ideas into reality using the design thinking process taught by Prof. PVM Rao & Prof Jay Dhariwal. During our first week we had project pitches, we formed teams and presented our best ideas to Project Scientist, Research Scholars and Professors from Various Departments, they helped us to select right idea to work on during camp. Second week was about acquiring various rapid prototyping skills ranging from programming, electronics, CAD Modelling to CNC, Waterjet, Laser Cutter, 3D printing and using Hand and power tools at QuEST Lab & MakerSpace. Then from 3rd week onwards we applied skills learnt to build the first prototype for our projects.There were nine projects about rehabilitation exercise monitoring, automating reuse of R.O. waste water, aeroponics, trekker safety Device, quadruped terrain mapping robot, avoiding drowsiness in drivers, stretcher convertible seat in vehicles, real time text to braille translator and a rolling robot.We had various sessions in different disciplines like Anthropometry, Electronics, Graphic designing etc. Educational visits to biotechnology and Biochemical engineering labs were mesmerizing and we had lots of fun while attending different events on campus like Drone Synchronization by BotLab Dynmics, theatre etc.We are grateful to IIT Delhi for this life changing experience.
